August 2015
Hard to believe it was 11 years end of July that we came to Belize and within two months the social workers came to us asking if we would consider doing foster care. Over the years I have build a relationship with many different social workers and have had 40-50 children come through my home.

Reflecting on God’s goodness
God provided funds for me to buy a small piece of property on the outskirts of San Ignacio in 2010. Then we had a team in 2011 led by Tim Springer and Bobbi Adkins who came to build our home that would provide a home for children that would need a safe place for a time. This team not only built our home but also brought all the supplies to do the building. They also took time to show God’s love to me and my children during their time here.

In 2012 Susanville Community Church came to bless us with some finishing touches as well as landscaping to help with the drainage when the rains come pouring down. They took the time to pray with those in need and minister to many in the community. We were in a time of needing a spiritual refreshing and God knew exactly who needed to be on this team and what a blessing they were! They did ministry at Marla’s house of hope, DVBS in our neighborhood, while the men did teaching at a rehab the ladies did a special evening for women in our church and community. They also led worship and did teaching in our Sunday morning church service. A true blessing to each one of us.

In 2013 Jim Parkinson from Virginia lead two groups that year to serve. Jim and Sharon Parkinson were in the team that came to build our home in 2011. God placed it on Jim’s heart to come back and love on the fatherless children and do any maintenance jobs that needed to be done. I was able to connect him and his team with Marla’s house of hope in Belmopan. It would take a long time to list all the things this team has done to bless so many of us here in Belize. He came back with another team in 2014 and again in 2015. They always do a series of teaching for the girls at Marla’s house of hope and VBS here in our neighborhood.

We have also been blessed with Wally and Kathy Chopee from Canada that I met in Mexico many years ago, who have come every year since 2010 to serve in areas where the Lord leads. Each time they come there is a tree or some kind of plant added to our yard. Back in 2010 they planted two mango trees and now we are enjoying the fresh fruit they yield each year. Once again it would take a whole chapter to fill in all the love they have poured on me and my children as well as many families they met while in Belize. Many thanks to each one that comes down to show the love of Jesus Christ.

In the last two years I have been blessed with many young children around the age of two. At this present time I have three two year olds who keep me running. Praying for God’s perfect will in their lives. Many have asked how I am able to let go of a child after I bonded with them. All I can say is as I pray daily for God’s will in their lives and in my home, He brings the ones that need to be here and moves them on when it is His time. I desire His will over mine and that is not always easy nor without pain but that is what gives true peace. Over the past years I have had many teenagers and some younger children come for an overnight or a weekend till they were able to be placed. I do not always know the circumstances they come from but I pray that they will feel the love of Christ for the short time they are with us.

There is oh so much when I go back and reflect on God’s goodness and being faithful in bringing friends and family to serve. Also His faithfulness to always provide for every need.
This summer Cory has bee blessed with spending time with the Miller family in Alaska and it has been an experience of a life time. This is Cory fishing for salmon on his birthday.
As the years go by I see it more and more how we need to truly seek God’s will in our lives and desiring what He is calling us to not what others think we should do.

Sing praises to God, sing praises!
Sing praises to our King, sing praises!
For God is the King of all the earth; Sing praises with understanding.
